2024 Conference Recap

The 2024 National Research Conference for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms took place in Seattle from December 9th – 11th. We responded to this opportunity by signing up as a sponsor and hosting an information table throughout the meeting. More than 800 researchers attended – some whom we already knew from this area and others from throughout the country. Several members of the Board or Research Committee also paid to attend the proceedings which set a very high standard of rigor and relevance. The success, size and diversity of foci at the conference made tangible how much this field of inquiry has grown in a few short years.

Our presence at this national event supported our local stars and gave new folks a chance to get to know us. Again and again we heard that nobody else is supplying the kind of funding we provide: small grants aimed at helping emerging scholars and those new to the field. We came away having experienced excellent intellectual stimulation and validation for our mission and our work.
